EV Load Detection and Scenario Modeling Using AMI (Smart Meter) Data
Client: Veitur (Utility & DSO)
Using time-series data from over 24,000 smart meters, we developed a method to detect EV charging behavior and project transformer-level impacts under high EV adoption scenarios. Our approach gave Veitur a temporally and geospatially resolved forecast of grid stress points, enabling smarter investment planning in Iceland’s electrification journey.
Forecasting Fast-Charging EV Demand at Strategic Service Hubs
Clients: Orkustofnun (Regulator), Landsnet (TSO), Vegagerðin (Regulator), Samorka (Industry Association)
Anton & Company partnered with Icelandic energy and transport authorities to model future EV charging demand along the key intercity corridor between Reykjavik and Akureyri. By linking real traffic data to grid service areas, the team developed a scalable method for estimating power needs at fast-charging stations—helping stakeholders plan infrastructure upgrades and manage the energy transition.
